An energy storage system (ESS) is a storage device that stores power like a very large water tank and can be used when power is temporarily short or when needed.

ESS Configuration

System Configuration (High pressure connection)

  • PMS : Monitors the entire ESS and controls the plant
  • PCS : Transforms electrical properties (AC ↔ DC, or changes the voltage or frequency) to charge/discharge the power produced to the battery
  • Battery : Store (recharges) power received from PCS, then output (discharge) power to system at the requried time
  • BMS : Monitors and controls the battery
